Translation of ASME Standards

Engineering is a universal language

ASME Certified Translations

There is significant value in translating Standards documents into various languages, as it allows individuals who speak different languages to access and benefit from these resources. Automated translation technologies have made it easier to translate these documents, but it is crucial to have them prepared and reviewed by individuals who are familiar with the specific standard and have expertise in the relevant field. This is necessary to ensure that the translated documents meet the level of quality required by the industry, government, academia, and other engineering communities of practice.

Translation Options

ASME offers three types of translation options:

  • Translations for Internal Use by an Organization are translations developed by an organization outside ASME with ASME permission solely for internal use by that organization.
  • ASME Standards Translation Products are translations of an ASME Standard produced by ASME as an ASME product. To ensure the quality and accuracy of the translated ASME Standard, an ASME Translation Committee is assigned to each translation project. The Translation Committee is comprised of technical experts having the necessary standards knowledge and language proficiency to translate the English version of an ASME Standard effectively. View the list of current ASME Translation Committees and the Standards Translation Products for which they are responsible.
  • Translation/Seller Products are translations of ASME Standards that are produced, developed, and sold by an outside organization (referred to as a Translation/Seller) under an agreement with ASME. Translation/Seller Products are not ASME products but are expected to be an accurate and faithful translation, comparable in quality to an ASME Standards Translation.
