Being both an elite athlete and studying mechanical engineering at a top school is not easy, yet with a strong work ethic and solid perseverance Ella Escobar manages to pursue both her passions.
For Arizona native Ella Escobar, having to choose between studying engineering or competing in a sport that she loved was an extremely difficult decision that eventually led her to do both. The athlete, who has posted three individual top 10 performances for her college, offers listeners a glimpse of the life of a student athlete during season and off.  

Escobar talked to ASME Techcast about her pursuit of mechanical engineering and track and field at Vanderbilt University. With a strong work ethic and enough perseverance to meet personal and team goals, she managed to pursue both her passions. In this episode she talks about how athletics inform engineering, classmate and teammate reactions, future career plans, and more.
