Dr. Romesh C. Batra was awarded honorary membership for outstanding mentoring of more than 100 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, and for pioneering work in applied mechanics including rubber-covered rolls, nonlinear elasticity, laminated plates, functionally graded structures, instabilities in mico electromechanical systems, mechanical characterization of carbon nanotubes, and adiabatic shear banding.
