Description
The ASME Columbia Basin Section invites you to attend a tour of The Walla Walla Foundry in Walla Walla, WA. This world-renowned foundry has been casting contemporary sculpture in bronze and other metals since 1976. They work with artists such as Maya Lin, Jim Dine and Bob Arneson. The tour will last 1.5 to 2.0 hours. There are several areas on campus where they pour the metal, perform welding, create the wax positives and add the final color to the metal. There may be a presentation by the architect including a slide show of current and past projects if time allows. We will walk around the campus, the tour is limited to 15 members and guests (over 15 years of age). Please wear closed-toe shoes, sensible for walking. Safety glasses and ear plugs will be handed out at the foundry.
