As a continuing commitment to provide our members and their associates with the most up to date industry related information with attention on DE&I, ASME Metro Detroit Section Is sponsoring this Virtual event via Zoom. It will show how women of today who have moved into leadership positions in the vehicle industry are driving innovation and fostering an environment for women to follow, making the world go. Presented by Myra Blanco, Director of Advancement, Partnerships, and Outreach (Virginia Tech Transportation Institute); Senior Research and Innovation Fellow (Virginia Tech); and Senior Safety Advisor (Daimler Truck North America). Dr. Blanco has been with Virginia Tech for over 25 years. Formally trained in human factors engineering, Dr. Blanco's areas of expertise extend beyond automated driving systems. She holds a Bachelor of Science Industrial Engineering, University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez, MS Industrial & Systems Engineering Virginia Tech, Ph.D. Industrial & Systems Engineering Virginia Tech. More recently, she was featured in SAE’s newest book in the series dedicated to professional women in transportation. This latest volume focused on the heavy vehicle industry, entitled Doing the Hard Work: Insights from Women Leading the Commercial Vehicle Industry. What Will Be Covered?
