Join the Oregon Section for a special Panel Presentation by engineering and construction leaders from the OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes Project. The project is much larger than the name leads to believe. It includes the design of sound walls, rapid removal and replacement of overpasses, building new traffic ramps, adding auxiliary lanes, creating bike paths, and more. Matt Freitag is ODOT’s Area Manager responsible for the highways on the west side of the Portland Metro area, a graduate of the University of Portland and is licensed as a professional engineer in Oregon. Daniel Burgin is ODOT’s Noise Program Coordinator in the Engineering & Technical Services Branch, previously an Air Quality and Noise Specialist for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and a graduate of Purdue University. Thor Alvarado is the Assistant Project Manager for ODOT’s Sylvan construction office, responsible for leading the construction phase of this project. He is a Certified Welding Inspector and a veteran of the US Navy, serving 7 years throughout the globe. Mike Miotke is a Project Manager from DOWL engineering services, is licensed professional engineer and native Oregonian. He graduated from Oregon State University in 2004 with a BS in Civil Engineering, and later received a MS in Structural Engineering from Portland State University.
