23 February 5:30 - 23 February 8:00, 2021
Description
ASME is supporting up to 14 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through our global community of 1 million people, codifying engineering knowledge and supporting hardware social ventures around the globe. One of the platforms used for knowledge exchange, meaningful connection and celebration of the individuals and organizations advancing the role of engineering in social innovation and sustainable development is Impact.Engineered—an exclusive event from ASME and Engineering for Change held yearly for 1-2 days (Usually in-person event and virtual in 2020). To begin the conversation around Sustainable Development Goals and engineering, ASME Philadelphia Section has joined forces with ASME EGD and Engineering for Change for a Mini Impact Engineered. We propose to hold a panel discussion focused on SDG 7 and 11: Affordable Clean Energy and Sustainable Cities and Communities. Specifically, we would like to: (1) Discuss efforts in PA and specifically Philadelphia to move towards providing affordable, clean, reliable plentiful energy for all its citizens; (2) Provide a forum to discuss ideation and innovation in Clean Energy resources; (3) Entrepreneurial efforts to address Clean Energy here and abroad; and (4) Opportunities in Sustainable Development in PA and abroad. In addition, Drexel ASME student student will host a workshop on Human Centered Design for student sections, however, all are welcome! Join us for this exciting event!
