ASME Santa Clara Valley Section: It’s All About “String and Glue”
Description
For our May Tech Talk, Ned Patton will spend some time giving us an overview of composite materials, where they come from, what they’re made with, how they’re made, and more. He will start with what a composite is, then continue to give a brief historical background of composites. Then he will delve into where composites come from using the Periodic Table of the Elements, and a little chemistry to show where fibers and resins come from. Then he will delve into an integrated systems approach to design and fabrication, and touch on design tools, fabrication methods, and what’s available to the engineer who needs to make something with these wonderful materials. This meeting is in person with a virtual component. Visit the link above for full registration details.
