Video: The Future of Nuclear Power
Nuclear power plants continue to maintain a place in the nation’s mix of generation sources but the industry’s future remains a question. Greg Ashley, Bechtel president of nuclear power, talks about risks associated with costs and calls for a better public understanding of the industry and new technologies such as small modular reactors. He calls for a national energy policy that recognizes nuclear power, especially because of concerns over carbon emissions, and believes the industry will remain viable because of that and emerging engineers and engineering students who believe in the development of nuclear power.
