Avatar, Iron Man, Life of Pi, Terminator Salvation, and Robocop are excellent examples of how Hollywood blockbusters are embracing 3D printing to create stunning special effects. As the film industry increasingly adopts the technology, learn from Jason Lopes, the lead systems engineer at Legacy Effects, how the special effects studio transformed its business model by using additive manufacturing to convert digital concepts to physical reality.

"We did everything by hand before we did everything additive," says Lopes, in this video filmed at ASME’s AM3D 2015 held in Boston. "Now we can develop changes at any pace that we are asked for and meet the client’s expectations," he adds.
