Apply for a 2024-2025 ASME Federal Government Fellowship!

Apply for a 2024-2025 ASME Federal Government Fellowship!

Are you interested in sharing your technical and engineering expertise in support of national policy goals? Apply for an ASME Federal Fellowship! The ASME Federal Government Fellows Program provides engineers with the opportunity to devote a year to working in government, providing engineering and technical advice to policy makers in the U.S. Congress, the White House, and federal agencies.

With our first fellow serving in the Senate Commerce Committee half a century ago, ASME is celebrating 50 years of Society support for Federal Government Fellowships in Washington, D.C. In 1981, ASME placed its first Executive Branch Fellows in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP)—an exciting new opportunity for Fellows to get an inside view of the Executive Office of the President and gain first-hand knowledge of the decision-making process at the top level of our government. Most recently, ASME is proud to welcome the Department of State to the Federal Fellows network. This new opportunity will allow Fellows to support the agency on issues at the intersection of engineering, technological cooperation, and diplomacy.

Who Should Apply: Fellowships run from September through August each year. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and a member of ASME at the time of application. ASME members with the following credentials are particularly encouraged to apply:

  • At least five years of professional experience
  • Advanced engineering degree
  • Public policy experience
Applications close January 31, 2023. To learn more about the ASME Federal Government Fellows program, visit our Federal Fellows page.  Join a legacy of engineering policy excellence! Apply here.
