In Case You Missed It: NIH Releases RFI to Gather Public Input for NIH-Wide Strategic Plan

NIH has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to gather public input on a framework for the 2021-2025 NIH-Wide Strategic Plan. The new plan will be work off of the 2016-2020 NIH-wide Strategic Plan and will guide NIH’s research efforts over the next five years. The agency will prioritize work in: (1) Biomedical and Behavioral Science Research; (2) Scientific Research Capacity; and (3) Scientific Integrity, Public Accountability, and Social Responsibility in the Conduct of Science.

As stated in the RFI, “the purpose of the NIH-Wide Strategic Plan is to communicate how NIH will advance its mission to support research in pursuit of fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems, and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness and disability.”

NIH requests feedback be submitted by March 25, 2020 via the RFI submission site. NIH will be hosting two webinars in March to describe the planning process and answer questions. Information about these webinars will be posted on the NIH-Wide Strategic Plan webpage as soon as information is available.
