Podcast: A Smarter Grid is a Safer Grid
S. Massoud Amin, a professor of electrical engineering and director of the Technological Leadership Institute at the University of Minnesota, developed the idea of a smart, self-healing grid while working at the Electric Power Research Institute beginning in 1998. In this podcast, Dr. Amin speaks with Dan Ferber, senior editor at Mechanical Engineering magazine, about what makes the electrical grid vulnerable to physical and cyberattacks, and how a smart, self-healing grid will protect it.
