Video: Amparo Prosthetics, 2016 ISHOW USA Winner
Jessica Menold, of Amparo, a Ph.D. student in mechanical engineering at Penn State, is part of an international team working to develop a better prosthetic. Their product greatly simplifies fitting through the use of a material that can be molded easily and quickly to a residual limb. The Amparo team has demonstrated it can fit a prosthetic in two hours. Conventional prosthetics can take weeks. Menold and her team are now taking steps to prove the safety and value of their prosthetic devices.
