ASME B31 Standards Committee Presents Four B31 Forever Medals for Excellence in Piping.

Four ASME volunteer committee members were presented with the ASME B31 Forever Medal for Excellence in Piping during the September 2022 B31& NM Code Week. The awardees are Michael Rosenfeld (2020), Jimmy Meyer (2021), Charles Becht IV (2022), and Raymond Reamey (2022). The event, held in Oklahoma City, was the first in-person code week since 2019, so the medals are for service from 2020-2022.

The ASME B31 Forever Medal for Excellence in Piping is a Committee Award that was established in 2010 that is awarded for distinguished contributions in the field of pressure piping including but not limited to leadership, technical, research and development, and publication efforts that have had a significant impact on the content, development, promulgation, and expansion of ASME B31 piping standards.


Michael Rosenfeld Michael Rosenfeld
Michael Rosenfeld is an experienced consultant in pipeline subject matters including fitness for service, design, maintenance, and regulations. He has performed pipeline failure investigations; industry-funded research; and engineering analyses for pipeline operators. He chairs the B31.8 Subgroup on Design, Materials, and Construction, is B31.8 vice chair, and serves on other ASME piping standards committees.  Mr. Rosenfeld is an instructor for ASME Training & Development on the B31.8, B31.8S, and B31.4 Codes.  He has authored or co-authored over 100 published articles or public presentations and is an ASME Fellow.


Jimmy Meyer
Jimmy Meyer has been working on ASME Standards for Piping for over 40 years.  He has held numerous leadership positions with B31.1, B31.3, B31 Standards and B31 MDTC.  Most recently he has also been teaching ASME courses on the piping codes all over the world.  To date he has taught about 140 both in person and virtual. Meyer plans to continue working for CDM Smith, teaching for ASME and Code Committee involvement as long as possible.


Dr. Charles Becht
Dr. Charles Becht is CEO of Becht, chairman of Becht Industrial Group, and CEO of Helidex.  He is former chair and current member of the ASME B31.3 Code Committee and was chair of an additional five ASME code committees and member of seven more.  He has published over 70 papers and two books that cover ASME B31.1 and ASME B31.3 code rules.  An ASME Fellow, he has previously received the ASME Dedicated Service Award, the S. Y. Zamrik Pressure Vessel and Piping Medal and the J. Hall Taylor Medal.



Ray Reamey
Ray Reamey, P.E. is the director of Quality Services at Turner Industries Group, headquartered in Baton Rouge, La. He is a member of and former vice-chair of B31.1, a member of B31.3, a member of B36 Standards, and a member of B31 Standards.  Ray has been awarded the Master of Power Piping Award from B31.1 in addition to the B31 Forever Medal.
