ASME Past President Nate Hurt Celebrates 100 Years


ASME congratulates Nathan H. Hurt, P.E. on his 100th birthday and for his illustrious engineering career and service as ASME’s 110th president (1991-92).
Hurt, who resides in Arizona, was recently presented with a proclamation from the Office of the Mayor of Lake Havasu City, AZ, proclaiming Monday, June 7, 2021, as “Nathan H. Hurt Day.”
A Life Fellow of ASME, Hurt has been a member of the Society since 1946. Initially a member of his Student Section, he went on to serve as chair of the Management Division (1981), vice president of the General Engineering Group (1984-88), and a member of the Board of Governors (1988-90). Hurt was inducted as an Honorary Member of ASME in 2011.
During his distinguished career spanning more than 60 years, Hurt made significant contributions in the nuclear industry, particularly the field of uranium enrichment, and in the broader mechanical engineering profession.
