Convention in Cuba to Examine Current Engineering Trends and Challenges

The National Union of Architects and Engineers of Cuba (UNAICC) will hold its 4th International Engineering Convention from June 23 to 25 at the Plaza Convention Center America in Varadero, Matanzas, Cuba. Engineers who are interested in presenting a technical paper at the conference should submit an abstract to the meeting’s organizers by May 10.
UNAICC is encouraging members of engineering societies throughout the world to take part in the convention, which this year will focus on the theme “Current Engineering Trends and Challenges.” In particular, the committee is asking engineers to submit abstracts for a special energy forum at the conference, titled “Forum III: TheEngineer’s Role in the Energy Matrix.”

Papers to be presented during the energy forum may address a variety of topics, including renewable energy, hybridization and storage; energy management systems and processes; conventional and alternative fuels; energy for transportation; energy integration for distributed and autonomous systems; international, regional and local regulatory agencies and financial guidelines and incentives; and bioclimatic architecture. The forum is intended to provide a venue for publicizing advanced energy technologies with entrepreneurial interests.
The conference will also feature three other forums, addressing sustainability and environmental engineering challenges, professional development for early career engineers, and empowering the woman engineer. The event will also include several roundtable discussions that will focus on such topics as advances in construction technology research; hydraulic engineering for comprehensive water and environmental management; and mechanical, electrical and industrial engineering connected to new technology.
