Industry Advisory Board Virtual Meeting - From Digitalization to Decarbonization

The Industry Advisory Board (IAB) virtual meeting, held on October 25, 2021, was entitled “From Digitalization to Decarbonization.” The first topic in the meeting was led by Christine Reilley, ASME Senior Director of Strategy and Innovation, with a discussion of the digitalization of content and ASME activities in that area. Next, the IAB shifted to its examination of the issue of decarbonization as it relates to renewable energy, electrification, and decarbonization of manufacturing, and the relationship to ASME and IAB priorities.

Keynote speaker Mark Ackiewicz, acting director of the Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management, discussed the Biden-Harris Administration’s strategy to spur clean energy technology research, innovation, and deployment to achieve net-zero emission goals and position the U.S. as a leader in the global decarbonization economy.

After the presentation, IAB members broke into three breakout sessions: Renewable Energy and Grid, Electrification, and Decarbonization of Manufacturing.
