One of the most useful and valuable social networking features on the newly revamped ASME.org website is the ability to join an ASME Group.
As a registered ASME.org Participant, you can join a Group to share and network with engineers and other professionals who have similar interests. With nearly 250 Groups that are open to all registered Participants, there's sure to be a Group that's right for you. It's easy to join any open Group — simply search the Group Directory and send a request to join.
Some of the more popular Groups on ASME.org address specific member interests and activities, such as the Maker/Hacker Community, the Energy Talking Points Group, and the Friends of Engineering.
There are Groups dedicated to the Society's Technical Divisions and Institutes, such as Advanced Energy Systems, Aerospace, Design Engineering, Management, Manufacturing Engineering, plus the International Gas Turbine Institute (IGTI), the International Petroleum Technology Institute (IPTI), and the Nanotechnology Institute. There are also Groups that are associated with the various ASME Districts, Sections, Student Sections, and programs and committees.
If you're a Leader or Participant in an official ASME Group, you can facilitate Group business, have private discussions, and share notes and minutes.
Still don't see the Group you're looking for? Then start your own ASME Group. Registered ASME.org Participants can create a "Participant-Created" Group by visiting https://community.asme.org/p/participantcreatedgroup.aspx and clicking on the "Get Started" button.
If you're a registered Participant, go to ASME Groups and join a Group or start your own. If you haven't registered yet, visit https://community.asme.org to do so today.
