Look for the Second Issue of DEMAND with the May Issue of ME Magazine

The second issue of DEMAND — ASME Global Development Review, the new Society publication that focuses on engineering for global development, will be delivered with the May issue of Mechanical Engineering magazine. The first issue of the new magazine was published last November.
DEMAND was created and published by ASME in collaboration with Mechanical Engineering magazine with reports from Engineering for Change (E4C) and support from the ASME Foundation.
The May issue of DEMAND will explore the theme “The Power of Feedback.” The 32-page publication presents case studies from a variety of organizations: “Design Ethnography as an Engineering Tool,” from the Laboratory for Innovation in Global Health Technology at the University of Michigan; “Getting Water to All,” from the Indian social enterprise Sarvajal; “Assessing the Impact of Remobility,” by the nonprofit product development organization D-Rev; and “Remote Monitoring of Off-Grid Power Systems,” from the start-up company BBOXX. The four case studies demonstrate the impact of feedback on the design, implementation and operation of products and services.
The magazine also includes a feature article, “Location Matters,” that looks at the importance of supply chains for organizations designing and delivering products to frontier economies, and a collection of reports from the E4C website.
The latest issue of DEMAND will also be made available as a free downloadable app — featuring interactive graphics, photography and videos — through the iOS, Amazon.com and the Google Play stores by mid-May. Visit the publication’s web page at http://go.asme.org/DEMAND for more information.
