Update to The ASME Digital Collection Adds More Powerful Search and Filtering Tools

The ASME Digital Collection ― the Society’s online repository of current and archival peer-reviewed literature ― has been updated with a new and improved look and feel.
While The ASME Digital Collection continues to provide the same seamless access to engineering and related sciences content, such as ASME’s journals, conference proceedings and ASME Press eBooks, it now features a cleaner interface and enhanced user experience. The site, which is hosted by Silverchair, now offers a wider range of tools and resources of relevance to both authors and librarians.
“The upgrade will significantly enhance the way our users find and retrieve the information they need, increase their research efficiency and enable them to build on the work that came before,” said Michael Peterfreund, ASME’s online publishing platform manager.
Publishing some of the most prestigious engineering content in the world is one way that ASME fulfills its ongoing mission of being an essential resource for professionals seeking engineering solutions to global challenges, he added.
In addition to powerful search tools that retrieve content from journals, conference proceedings and eBooks, other significant upgrades include improved indexing for more accurate results; advanced filtering tools to refine search results by keywords, topics, title, journal citation and date range; an enhanced user interface, providing simplified navigation and inline figures and tables; responsive web pages for better desktop and mobile experience; a complete redesign of the conference proceedings content structure; online eBooks in full HTML; and the inclusion of the new ASME Journal of Engineering for Sustainable Buildings and Cities.
The website was recently upgraded to the latest version of Silverchair’s platform. Plans are already underway for future enhancements to The ASME Digital Collection.
