ASME Past President Victoria Rockwell Featured in STEM Publication

NEW YORK, June 28, 2012 – ASME past-president Victoria A. Rockwell, a strong advocate of engineering workplace diversity and staunch supporter of initiatives to drive increased interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education, is profiled in the new publication, 100 Women Leaders in STEM.

100 Women Leaders in STEM, a publication of STEMconnector™, showcases the careers of more than one hundred female difference-makers who are active role models for women in the technology fields.

“Creating women leaders in STEM starts by having teachers in grade school who present STEM subjects as discovery-based, creative and fun,” says Rockwell in the publication, which includes leaders in the corporate, political, foundation, and association sectors.  100 Women Leaders in STEM will be launched in both online and hard copy formats on June 28, 2012.

Rockwell, director of Investment Development for Houston-based Air Liquide USA, LLC, has recently concluded an eventful year as ASME’s president, during which she participated in the White House Forum on Women and the Economy and led the Society’s STEM activities at Engineers Week 2012.  Those activities included the DiscoverE Summit, in which thought leaders shared their perspectives on advancing K-12 STEM education and which also recognized teachers and educators who are advancing STEM.

ASME sponsors a range of other programs in STEM education, including programs focused on innovative ways to bring engineering concepts into the K-12 teaching curricula.
