ASME Journal of Biomechanical Engineering Seeking Papers for Annual Special Issue
ASME Journal of Biomechanical Engineering Seeking Papers for Annual Special Issue
The editors of the ASME Journal of Biomechanical Engineering are currently accepting manuscripts covering topics related to all areas of biomechanical engineering for its Special Annual Issue 2021. Authors interested in having papers included in the special issue, which is expected to be published in March 2021, should submit manuscripts by Sept. 1, 2020.
Each year, the editors of the ASME Journal of Biomechanical Engineering produce a special issue of the journal featuring invited reviews on topics of interest to the biomechanical engineering community.
Because of the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the journal has decided to place an open call for review articles for the Annual Special Issue 2021 as a way to provide students whose research has been slowed or stalled by the current predicament with a platform to present research and academic work that they can undertake at home. The journal editors hope that the special issue will provide researchers and trainees with something positive to focus on as they continue their academic pursuits remotely and online during these challenging times.
All submissions to the Special Annual Issue 2021 will be peer-reviewed. While there are no formal restrictions on the length of submissions, the recommended length of manuscripts is 10,000-12,000 words (a quarter-column figure is roughly equivalent to 125 words) for a full-length review, and 3,000-4,000 words for a brief review. In addition, it should be noted that brief reviews should only be used for an extremely focused topic and not for superficial coverage of a larger topic.
Manuscripts intended for the special issue should be submitted electronically through ASME Journals Connect by Sept. 1, 2020. Authors who already have an account should log in and select “Submit Paper” at the bottom of the page. If you do not have an account, select “Submissions” and follow the instructions. Upon reaching the Paper Submittal page, please select “ASME Journal of Biomechanical Engineering” and then select the special issue “Annual Special Issue 2021.” Papers received after the deadline or papers not selected for inclusion in the Annual Special Issue 2021 may be accepted for publication in a regular issue of the journal.
The special issue editors for the Annual Special Issue 2021 are Victor Barocas, University of Minnesota, U.S.A., email: baroc001@umn.edu; and Beth A. Winkelstein, University of Pennsylvania, U.S.A., email: winkelst@seas.upenn.edu.
