ASME's Two Park Offices Win ASAE Real Estate Award

A series of X-ray photographs with accompanying captions in the headquarters' entry corridor draws attention to the beauty, elegance and creativity of the engineering that lies beneath a selection of everyday objects.

The office's reception area incorporates an ultra-modern design and features examples of innovative uses of sustainable technology which are having an impact in under-resourced areas around the world.

The walls of the Two Park Avenue headquarters elevator corridors are decorated with equations that highlight the essential elements of engineering design.

ASME's spacious and visually striking new headquarters at Two Park Avenue in New York was recognized earlier this month by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) as one of the winners of the association's inaugural Association Real Estate Awards. The Society's new office was awarded first prize in event's Large Staff, Professional Association category.

ASAE received 56 entries from nonprofit and professional associations throughout the United States for the awards program, which was sponsored by ASAE Business Services and commercial real estate brokerage company Studley Inc. The awards ceremony took place in Washington D.C., on Oct. 16.

ASAE's judges evaluated the office spaces on how effectively they communicated and reflected the missions of their organizations. ASME's new headquarters, which was occupied by staff in January, features a number of new office amenities, including numerous high-tech board and conference rooms, areas to meet with colleagues such as the spacious "Hub," and an open and bright office environment that encourages interoffice collaboration and productivity. The award also recognized the office space's imaginative and eye-catching décor, such as the gallery of x-ray light boxes that line the entrance corridors and the Headquarters' expansive, ultramodern reception area.

Bill Harris, director of Facilities Operations for ASME, and Laurel Rasso, managing director of Human and Capital Resources, attended the ceremony, where Harris accepted the award on behalf of the Society.

"Coming less than one year into our tenure at Two Park, this award affirms our belief that we have created a state-of-the-art workplace, which integrates seamlessly with our mission," said ASME Executive Director Thomas G. Loughlin after being notified of ASME's win.
