ASME Hosts "Innovations in Bioengineering" Webinar Next Month
ASME.org’s next webinar, “Innovations in Bioengineering: CTCs and the Future of Cancer Research,” will examine the role advanced biomedical devices, such as chip-based probes, are playing in the fight against cancer.
The hour-long online seminar, to be held May 7 at 2:00 p.m., will feature presenters Dr. Peter Kuhn of Harvard Medical School and Dr. Mehmet Toner of the Scripps Physics Oncology Center discussing the latest innovations and developments in the field.
Dr. Toner is a professor of surgery at the Harvard Medical School and professor of biomedical engineering at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology. He received a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and a doctorate in medical engineering from MIT in 1985 and 1989, respectively. He first gained prominence for his theory of intra-cellular ice formation while finishing his Ph.D.
The webinar’s second presenter, Dr. Kuhn, is the principal investigator and program director of the Scripps Physics Oncology Center. His laboratory is advancing personalized cancer care by linking individual patient biology to clinical decision making. He received a diploma from Germany’s Julius Maximilian University of Wurzburg in 1992, and an M.S. and Ph.D from the State University of New York, Albany, in 1993 and 1995, respectively.
David Walsh, ASME.org’s editor-in-chief, will be the moderator for the webinar. To register for “Innovations in Bioengineering: CTCs and the Future of Cancer Research,” visit https://www.brighttalk.com/webcast/10571/106607.
