Register Now for the International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering

Now in its 38th year, ASME’s International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering (OMAE) will take place from June 9-14 at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow, Scotland. More than 1,000 attendees from industry, academia and government are expected to participate in this year’s event, which will be hosted by the Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering at the University of Strathclyde.

OMAE 2019 will bring together researchers, engineers, managers, technicians and students from around the world to interact with each other and learn about the latest technological advances within the fields of ocean, offshore and arctic engineering. The conference also aims to promote the application of these advances in industry, as well as encourage international cooperation among members of the ocean, offshore and arctic engineering communities.

More than 900 technical papers are expected to be presented during OMAE 2019. The conference’s 13 technical tracks will cover a number of topics including offshore technology; structures, safety and reliability; materials technology; pipelines, risers and subsea systems; ocean space utilization; ocean engineering; polar and arctic sciences and technology; computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and fluid-structure interaction (FSI); and ocean renewable energy.

OMAE 2019 will also feature presentations from several prominent experts from the ocean, offshore and artic engineering sectors, including David Dickson, vice president, Safety and Operational Risk, Global Operations, BP; Bas Buchner, president of the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN); Professor Kjetil Skaugset, chief researcher, Upstream and Downstream Technology, Equinor ASA; and Frederic Dabe, digital transformation director, SBM Offshore. In addition, honorees Prof. Rodney Eatock Taylor of Oxford University and Prof. Takeshi Kinoshita of Nagasaki Institute of Applied Science, will deliver the conference’s plenary lectures on June 11 and 12, respectively.

Five short courses will also be offered in conjunction with OMAE 2019. Two of the courses — “Corrosion and Fouling in Marine Environment” “Verification & Validation of Industrial CFD” — will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8. “Offshore Wind Turbines: Dynamic Analysis and Marine Operations.” “Wave Energy Converter Dynamics and Control Design” and “Introduction to Machine Learning and Data-Driven Modelling Methods for Engineering Applications” will be presented Sunday, June 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information on these short courses, visit https://event.asme.org/OMAE/Program/Short-Courses.
