Video: Renewable Wastewater for the Developing World
Approximately 2.5 billion people (one third of the world's population) lack access to basic sanitation. The result of this sanitation gap is 1.5 million preventable deaths per year. The Guest Research Group at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, led by Prof. Jeremy Guest, specializes in the development of technologies that manage human bodily waste as a renewable resource, creating incentives for technology adoption and sustained use through the production of energy, fertilizers, and water that is safe for reuse.
